February 2010 - Kilver Court

In February Kilver Court in Shepton Mallet will be hosting an exciting exhibition of work by artists from across the county. The collection on display will include paintings, jewellery, sculptures, ceramic work and photography by a group of professional artists who produce a high standard of work. Their previous exhibition last August in West Somerset was highly acclaimed and attracted well over 1000 visitors.

The Kilver Court venue was an attractive choice because of its existing reputation and ability to offer other attractions to visitors such as the dramatic historic gardens, Sharpham Park Farm Shop and popular Harlequin Café. This gives visitors to the exhibition an opportunity to discover all Kilver Court has to offer or to add a new point of interest for existing clients. There will also be an exciting ‘hands on’ opportunity during half term week for children to produce their own animal pictures based on work by the artists.

The artwork on display will include Lucy Brown̢۪s beautifully delicate ceramic work, Chris Webb̢۪s stone carving, intriguing sculptures of horses and other animals by Melanie Deegan and sculptural silver jewellery by Penny Price. The paintings will incorporate work by landscape artist Angie Rooke, original work and prints by Jim Munnion and abstract images by Pennie Elfick. Rebecca Birtwhistle will be displaying a range of architectural images and Andrew Hobbs photographic work will include his popular studies in black and white.

During half term week there will be a ‘hands on’ opportunity for any children visiting to produce their own animal pictures based on work by the artists - materials will be provided.

The exhibition runs from the 14th to the 27th of February at Kilver Court, Shepton Mallet from 10am-5pm Mon to Fri and 10am-4pm on Sat/Sun. Entry and parking are free.
