Maynard Hales - Sculpture

I turned to Sculpture as a means of expressing ideas that I could not realise in Paint and Print - turning metaphor into form, as with "Millennium Totem" purchased by I.B.M. for their permanent collection.

Although I started working in metal, I carve stone and wood or shell cast copper. As with my Print Making, "The title is the invisible colour", with inspiration coming from Conjunctio in many cases, both in spirit and form.

Vocationally trained as a Graphic Artist I worked on Rolling Stone Magazine, as studio manager of Daily Mirror and in T.V. Graphics - including drawing the Channel Four Logo. Then move to working in Fine Art spanning Painting, Print Making and Sculpture both here and in New Zealand where my family live.

Work in C. of E. Commission, V & A London and I.B.M. Portsmouth.
