Leo Davey - Painting & Illustration
Leo Davey studied Illustration at Falmouth College of Arts in Cornwall. He now works as full time artist/illustrator in his hometown of Minehead in West Somerset where he has his studio/gallery.
Leoâs paintings depict all manner of subjects from cities to seascapes, interiors to trees and from childrenâs illustration to travel posters.
Tooth brushes, paint brushes, dip pens, pencils and inks all feature in the creation of his watercolours. Working from a combination of sketches and photographs, Leo punctuates his realist depictions with stylized pattern and a distinctive language of marks and colour.
Leo won the âEvolverâ prize in 2010 and has been a prize winner at at Milfield, Ilminster and A303 open exhibtions. He has shown at the RWA and has had two paintings accepted in âThe Sunday Times Watercolour Competition 2012â which will be shown in Londonâs Mall Galleries later this year.
