Jenny Barron - Painting
After in a long career in both art and design I am happy to find myself now embedded in the long established tradition of representational still-life painting.
Evolving from textile design through botanical illustration to my current highly realistic watercolour style and technique the paintings are mostly straightforward but also, sometimes, have a suggestion of narrative or mildly surreal humour.
Composing against dark shadows and backgrounds or by using the techniques and tricks of trompe l̢۪oiel and carefully observed realism I aim to create paintings with an intimate atmosphere where the audience can be invited, if they wish, to imbue my subjects with life, character and idiosyncrasy as well as inherant beauty and interest..
